Young people who are looking for jobs often sabotage their own efforts with careless immaturity. Examples include:
1. Showing up for job interviews in inappropriate attire. (jeans, short skirts, shorts, bold colors, low necklines, sandals, too much makeup, scraggly hair, etc.) Look professional!
2. Using an email address that screams immaturity (Examples: sassysusie@ or hotheather@ or boozerboy@) Your name (first, last or both) makes the best email address for jobhunters. The more potential employers use your name, the more likely they are to remember you.
3. Watch what you post on social network sites, such as Facebook. Employees are now checking your page on those sites to see if you have any secrets you share only with your internet friends. Don’t post suggestive pictures, bad languge, childish dribble, comments that indicate you don’t like your current job or you’d rather not work at all. Don’t post anything that could work against you!
